1:1 Occupational Therapy
Support for Neurodivergent Teen Girls Experiencing Anxiety, Overwhelm & Disconnection
At Tempo Therapy Services, we provide individualised mental health occupational therapy for neurodivergent identifying teen girls who are struggling to engage in everyday life.
We work with both the young person and, where appropriate the systems around them - such as family, school, and other supports - to create more consistent, aligned conditions for change.
Who This Is For
Many of the young people we support:
Feel anxious, overwhelmed, emotionally intense, or low
Move between pushing through, shutting down, or withdrawing
Mask or adapt to cope with expectations
Struggle with school, routines, friendships, or daily demands
Experience ADHD, neurodivergence, or sensory sensitivities
Are navigating trauma, burnout, or major life transitions
Experience self-harm, suicidality, or significant distress
Approach
At Tempo, we take a neurosystemic approach - seeing patterns like overwhelm, shutdown, or disconnection as the result of a nervous system under strain within misaligned environments, and working across the body, mind, relationships, and daily life to support meaningful change.
Therapy is tailored to the individual and may integrate:
Occupational Therapy & Daily Life
Supporting engagement in routines, school, relationships, and meaningful activities.
Nervous System & Sensory Integration
Building regulation and capacity through the interaction between the body, sensory processing, and environment.
Psychotherapy-Informed Practice
Drawing on approaches such as EMDR, CBT, DBT, ACT, and trauma-informed care to support patterns, beliefs, and emotional responses.
Body-Based Approaches
Using movement, breathwork, and yoga therapy to support regulation, awareness, and connection.
Where helpful, we work with parents, schools, and supports to better align environments with the young person’s capacity - creating the conditions for them to function, connect, and live in a way that feels more like themselves.
Outcomes
Together, we support neurodivergent teen girls and the systems around them to:
Develop greater steadiness and capacity
Understand patterns and underlying drivers
Reduce cycles of overwhelm, shutdown, and burnout
Strengthen confidence, identity, and self-understanding
Improve engagement in school, relationships, and daily life
Create more supportive and aligned environments
Over time, this supports a more connected, capable, and meaningful way of living.
Assessment & Understanding
Assessment is integrated into early sessions to build a clear understanding of your young person’s strengths, needs, and the context she is living within.
This may include:
Functional and biopsychosocial assessment
Sensory processing and nervous system profile
Emotional and behavioural patterns
Environmental and contextual factors
Risk assessment and safety planning (where required)
This informs a personalised, practical therapy plan.
